Control your digital environment
Environment locks your Windows laptop for the hours you choose, blocks the sites and programs you name, and will not let you talk yourself out of it at midnight.
What it holds
Every part is a plain switch in one window, and every switch obeys the same rule: on at once, off after the wait.
-
The nightly hours
At the hour you set, the laptop hibernates and your account cannot sign in until the morning one. A stricter stretch can be laid on top for up to ninety days and falls away by itself.
-
Blocked sites
Blocked in every browser on the machine. A whole site, or a site with one address kept open, like YouTube Studio without the rest of YouTube.
-
Blocked programs
A program you name will not start, and is stopped if it is already running. Steam, a game, a launcher.
-
Parts of a site
Keep a site and lose the part that keeps you there: YouTube's home feed, Shorts and the recommended column; Reddit's front page; TikTok's feed. Each one its own switch, through a small add-on the laptop puts into the browser itself.
-
Installing things
You give up administrator rights. When you need them, you ask and say what for, wait an hour, confirm at the halfway mark, and have forty-five minutes to install.
-
The phone's code vault
Holds your phone's Screen Time code on the laptop, set without anyone reading it, behind a week of waiting or three hours of typing.
It can never take the machine away from you.
Every way back works alone, at home, with no second person and no support line. Nothing in Environment touches how the machine boots, and nothing in it can erase anything.
- Automatic rescues hand the laptop back by themselves if the software ever stops working.
- A sealed-envelope failsafe account you write on paper on the day you install.
- An uninstaller that always works and always restores your rights.
- A deliberate three-day way back to permanent administrator rights.
How the first day goes
Download and run the installer
It puts the kit in a folder of its own and opens the setup guide. No service, no account change, nothing started.
Prove it on a throwaway account
A dress rehearsal and an encryption test on a spare account first, so the real install is a repeat of something that already worked.
Set your hours, then hand back your rights
Choose the nightly hours, the sites and the programs. When you are sure, give up administrator rights for good, with the way back written down.
Questions people ask first
What if I need to install something?
You ask for administrator rights in the window and say what for. One hour later you have forty-five minutes in which installers start with full rights, as long as you confirm at the halfway mark. Missing the confirmation drops the request; that is what makes the hour a real hour.
Can I take it off again?
Yes. The uninstaller always works and always restores your rights, and it is inside the kit from day one. Permanent administrator rights come back through a deliberate three-day route: five confirmations spread over three days of the laptop running. Abandoning that route is instant and resets the count to nothing.
Which browsers does it cover?
A blocked site is blocked in every browser on the laptop. Hidden parts of a site work through Environment's own browser add-on, which the laptop installs by itself from the Chrome Web Store.
Is there a phone app?
The laptop app is the one to try today. Phone apps are on their way and will be announced here.
What does it cost?
Nothing. Download it, read the guide, and try it on a spare account before you commit a thing.
